The Paint Mines Interpretive Park, near Calhan, CO is a unique location that provides excellent photographic opportunities throughout the year. The Paint Mines is known for its colorful hoodoos.

Westcliffe
Photo Tour
Westcliffe is a former mining town that is situated in the Wet Valley about 1.5 hours southwest of Colorado Springs. Westcliffe is an International Dark Sky Community, which makes it perfect for night-sky photography. The views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from Westcliffe are spectacular.
Fountain Creek
Photo Tour
Fountain Creek Regional Park is south of Colorado Springs and is one of the best locations in the area for birding. There are always some critters roaming around, and I’ve never beeen disappointed going there.

Night Sky Photography
Photo Tour
Private night-sky photography sessions can be arranged in Westcliffe, at the Paint Mines and in Ramah, CO by request. Sessions at the Paint Mines require a permit for an extra fee and would depend on permit availability. If you prefer a group session, please see the Westcliffe and Paint Mines workshop schedules.
Bristlecone Pines
Photo Tour
Photograph the night sky among ancient bristlecone pines in the mountains of Colorado.

Eleven Mile Canyon (winter)
Photo Tour
Located about one hour west of Colorado Springs, Eleven Mile Canyon is my favorite winter destination, and it offers amazing opportunities to capture images of water rushing past ice- and snow-covered boulders. There’s also a mating pair of bald eagles that live in the canyon, and there’s a good chance of seeing them during any visit.
